막스 에른스트(Max Ernst, 1891년 4월 2일 ~ 1976년 4월 1일)는 독일의 화가이다. 쾰른에서 출생하였으며, 초현실주의 (쉬르레알리슴)의 지도적인 인물이다. 처음에는 표현파에 속하였으나, 1919년 아르프와 함께 다다이즘을 결성하였다. 1924년 쉬르레알리슴 선언에 참가하였으며, 1949년에 파리로 이주하였다. 대표 작품으로〈셀레베스의 코끼리〉, 〈봄〉, 〈자연의 역사〉 등이 있다.

Mary Leonora Carrington (6 April 1917 – 25 May 2011) was a British and Mexican Surrealist painter and novelist. She lived most of her adult life in Mexico City and was one of the last surviving participants in the Surrealist movement of the 1930s. Carrington was also a founding member of the women's liberation movement in Mexico during the 1970s.

레오노르 피니(Leonor Fini, 1907년 ~ 1996년)는 아르헨티나의 화가이다. 아르헨티나의 부에노스 아이레스에서 출생하였다. 한스 리히터에 의하면 쉬르레알리슴 그림을 그리는 여류화가는 피니뿐만 아니고 레오노라 카린톤, 드로테아 타닝, 메레트 오펜하임 모두가 에른스트에서 큰 영향을 받았다. 대표작으로는 《세계의 끝》, 《지질학적인 기억》이 있다.

Gala Dalí (born Elena Ivanovna Diakonova, Елена Ивановна Дьяконова; 7 September [O.S. 26 August] 1894 – 10 June 1982), usually known simply as Gala, was the wife of poet Paul Éluard (1895–1952) and later of artist Salvador Dalí (1904–1989), who were both prominent in surrealism. She also inspired many other writers and artists.
